Grand Opening of Cars Land at Disney California Adventure

The Happiest place on Earth will get even happier on June 15, 2012!

Yes! It is the Grand Opening of Cars Land at Disney California Adventure.  The new additions will complete the five year expansion of Disneyland Resort. Cars Land will expand the park by 12 acres.

You will feel like you stepped into Radiator Springs, there will be cars themed shopping and dining which includes Flo’s V8 cafe, Ramone’s House of Body Art and Radiator Springs Curios.

One of the largest and most elaborate attractions ever created for a Disney park is Radiator Springs Racers.  It is a twisting, turning high speed adventure through Ornament Valley and the town of Radiator Springs.  Luigi’s flying tires invites you to glide on air aboard special tires.  At Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree you will whip around behind a baby tractor and enjoy tunes from a giant jukebox built from Mater’s most prized possessions.

Sounds “Great” to me and I know my boys would love it!!

Journey Into Imagination

What Figment? who? a dragon? in a sweater? whaaaaat????

How long has it been since you went on Journey into Imagination??

In case you don’t know….

Figment, a small purple dragon, occasionally seen sporting a yellow sweater, is the mascot of the Imagination! pavilion at the Epcot theme park at Walt Disney World Resort. He is extensively seen in Epcot merchandise.

The actual ride opened March 5, 1983 but was revamped quite a few times.  The biggest changes were made in 1999 but they brought on numerous complaints so to keep a long story short once again to keep us Disney folk HAPPY , a modest 2002 refurbishment modified the 1999 version to add the dragon as a playful foil for Dr. Channing throughout the Imagination Institute tour. The new version pointedly was branded Journey Into Imagination with Figment.

….and so now that is what it is…..

(SPOILER ALERT) this is part of the ride if you want to be surprised….DON’T WATCH!

Figment Trivia…

Did you know that Figment has briefly appeared in several educational short films in the early ’80s two of which featured Peter Pan and Alice from Alice in Wonderland.

This app is amazing! If you have never been or just want to remember again check it out!

It is being added to my FAV list! The graphics are unbelievable! I hope they make one for Disney World!

Pins….Pins…Pins….OH MY!

ok, I admit…this has gotten out of hand!

originally we bought a handful of pins that the boys could trade when we came to the parks.

We are now at approximately 200!

It has somehow morphed and escalated to a FULL BLOWN PIN ADDICTION!

Seriously. It is now the main focus of every visit to the parks, hotels, downtown Disney and even the Disney outlet stores!

We focus on specific pins that we MUST get to complete a collection…and yes we are known to run down that person or cast member that may have that pin. Hey, It’s important! 🙂

and an added bonus of course is the “limited” pins….It’s good to know the “right” people! (wink wink)

YUP! that’s how I got this LIMITED “Vacation Club” pin! Whoo hoo! How cute is that!!! hmmmmm I wonder if it’s part of a set! (just kidding)

 

Although I guess I shouldn’t complain…there are worse addictions…….for example….VINYLMATIONS!

(I don’t even want to get started with that!) …….yet. 🙂
