Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Coming….2014

Posted in DISNEY'S MAGIC KINGDOM with tags on June 3, 2013 by disneychronicles

At this point I think we have all gotten used to all the scrims and construction walls that have gone up in the Magic Kingdom.  There is an end…..well they just haven’t exactly announced when.

The FINAL piece that will be added to Fantasyland is The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. We can expect it sometime in Spring 2014.

The ride will vary in speed, slowing down for elaborate dark ride-style moments, then speed up for higher-speed thrills indoors and out.  It will feature a new ride system which simulates the swaying and tipping one would expect to experience in a mine cart.

Disney says the slow progress of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train construction is because they want to take their time to make sure the magic is perfected before they open.  I do hope it is worth waiting this long for!

Disney’s Monstrous Summer All-Nighter …my thoughts…

Posted in DISNEY'S MAGIC KINGDOM with tags , on May 26, 2013 by disneychronicles

To kick off the summer season and celebrate the June opening of the new Disney film Monsters University, Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom was open for 24 hours yesterday! Now I am an addict but I’m not THAT crazy! I do have my limits.

I suppose for some this could be the Ultimate Adventure, especially if you are there for vacation. There’s nothing like getting in a few extra hours at the parks if your limited on time.

Guests received Monstrous Summer buttons and special guides have been printed outlining the day’s special events, including Mike and Sulley appearing in a pre-parade and meeting and greeting with guests in Tomorrowland during the late night hours. (I have to be honest, we spent about 7 hours in the park and I really expected there to be a bit more).

Mike and Sully lead the way as the Grand Marshalls of the “Celebrate a Dream Come True” parade down Main Street, U.S.A and they also had a dance party that focused on the “Monsters”..

If you stop in at Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor, keep your eyes open for a new feature…

Special “Monster’s” merchandise was rolled out for this event that also includes Sulley ear hats, T-shirts,

cupcakes, and cake pops.

It was fun, and nice to see something different but I do wish that they did a little bit more. Honestly I was in bed by 1am and perfectly happy to be 😀

We are KICKEN off summer with a Disney ALL NIGHTER!

Disney Magic….a serious RENOVATION…

Posted in DISNEY CRUISE LINE with tags on May 16, 2013 by disneychronicles

disneymagic

The Disney Magic was Disney’s 1st cruise ship. It weighed in at 83,000 tons and was built in 1998.

She will be entering dry dock September 7 through October 10th.  The main point is to give the ship a cleaner and more timeless design.

If you have sailed on the Dream or the Fantasy you know that the technology aboard these ships is amazing, they will be adding that to the Magic also.

Some of the things that will go is the Mickey Mouse shaped pool and the huge atrium chandelier. (Which weighs over a ton!)

This will go to a museum in Seattle.

The children’s and teen areas are getting new themes.  Which will incorporate “It’s a small world” and a lot more technology!

Another section will be the NEW Marvel Avengers Academy where the kids can dress up as their favorite super heroes!

In the Dining spectrum, Animators Palate is staying, of course but is getting newer technology with LED fiber optic lights.

Parrot Cay on Deck 3 will reopen as Carioca’s and have a South American vibe. Somewhat the Three Caballeros feel….

The Adult area now called Beat Street will be renamed After Hours and get a sophisticated update.  Rockin Bar D will be called Fathoms and feature light fixtures that look like jellyfish with a color scheme of the sea. Among other changes the sports bar will become an Irish pub.

Within the cabins all staterooms will have higher beds that allow the storage of suitcases underneath, updated head-board and new bedspreads. The dressers will be replaced with built in cabinets.

The pool area will also get a major overhaul. It will become a large family play area with water sprays and a bucket dump.

SO YES, this is a pretty big renovation and I think most of you will agree a much-needed one!
