I am really amazed at how far out I have been booking Disney Vacations this year! I think everyone is realizing they MUST do a trip to the happiest place on earth!

I obviously couldn’t agree more! but now as I am not so patiently waiting for MNSSHP and MVMCP tickets to come out I have come across questions for New Years! WOW!

So in the spirit of booking far far in advance I will give you an option for NEW YEARS..that you may have not realized existed!

You can spend New Year’s Eve in the parks (all except for Disney’s Animal Kingdom are usually open until midnight or later on December 31) with tens of thousands of your new best friends.

Or instead you and your family can spend it at DisneyQuest at Downtown Disney. There’s food, DJs and characters on hand to help you bring in the New Year.

DisneyQuest features five floors of interactive fun with video games and special rides like CyberSpace Mountain. There’s also a confetti drop at midnight.

Reservations are required,  the 2012 rate was $47 per person. (2013 is not announced yet).

So keep an eye out, tickets do sell out fast!

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train……it’s coming…..

Yes, If  you didn’t know there is more to come to the NEW Fantasyland….

We checked out the construction yesterday….I expected this to be a smaller ride but it looks pretty big.

The New Fantasyland expansion will continue with the opening of Princess Fairytale Hall in 2013 and the debut of a new Disney “mountain” in the form of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in 2014.

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will take guests on a rollicking, musical ride into the mine “where a million diamonds shine.” The coaster will feature a first-of-its kind ride system with a train of ride vehicles that swing back and forth, responding to every twist and turn of the track. The journey will be accompanied by music from the classic Disney film and animated figures of Snow White and the Dwarfs.

Gasparilla Pirate Festival…what is it?

I have been wanting to go to this for years and finally made it there Saturday!

We attended the Family parade they do an “Adults” one a week later.

The Gasparilla Pirate Invasion and Parade has been a Tampa tradition for over 100 years.

How did it start?

It all started with the legend of a fortune in buried treasure left somewhere along the Florida coast by Jose Gaspar when he died. Although that treasure has never been found…..

(hmmmmmm) 🙂

the story of the swashbuckler was unearthed and his memory revived in 1904 when Tampa’s social and civic leaders adopted the pirate as patron rogue of their city-wide celebration.

Forty original members of the first “Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla” met in secret and planned a surprise mock pirate attack on Tampa. In full regalia — masked and fully-costumed — the first krewe arrived on horseback to “capture the city” during the Festival Parade. Surprisingly, the first invasion was so successful that a city-wide demand lead to making the Mystic Krewe organization permanent. A tradition was born.

To celebrate their capture of the City of Tampa, the Captain and his Krewe share their wealth – throwing  glittering beads, candy and treasures along the 3.8-mile parade route.

“Make way, mateys!” shout Tampa’s original buccaneers as they wind their way down historic Bayshore Boulevard and into downtown Tampa – amidst colorful costumes and festive music.

The Gasparilla Parade features over 130 units – including more than 90 floats and  14 marching bands!

Vendors are also located up and down Bayshore Boulevard and you can’t miss the finale of fireworks at the end!

Today, over 400,000 attend the event, which contributes over $20 million to the local economy! and it is a great time!

A Walt Disney World “urban explorer” has been banned from the park – for life.

The “explorer,” who goes by the name “Adam The Woo,”  gained an online following by posting videos of himself sneaking into backstage areas of the Magic Kingdom off limits to the public.

Adam told Fox 4 in November he’s a fan of Disney and wanted to see what was backstage to satisfy a “morbid curiosity.”

On his YouTube channel, he has a dozen videos of himself “exploring” Disney World.  The park considers what he did trespassing.

In his latest video, Adam, who is wearing a black Mickey Mouse T-shirt, says he’s “had better days” since he was met by security on his latest visit to the happiest place on earth and banned for life.

“I never received any emails from Disney on what I was doing was wrong,” said Adam in his YouTube video. “So, I figured maybe I’ll get a slap on the wrist, they’ll talk about the videos, say ‘don’t do it anymore,’ all that good stuff. None of that happened. They were waiting at the gate and they got me.”

Adam, who is upset about the ban, claims the security guards that got him were actually fans of his videos.

A spokeswoman for Disney World tells Fox 4 they take matters like this seriously and filed a trespass warning against Adam because he “deliberately entered unauthorized areas” several times before.

Disney statement

“We take matters like this seriously and filed a trespass warning against him since he deliberately entered unauthorized areas on several occasions.”
