Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon

Posted in DISNEY'S WATERPARKS, EVERYTHING DISNEY with tags , on July 7, 2012 by disneychronicles

We headed over to Typhoon Lagoon on Friday AND IT WAS PACKED! Very hard to find a seat and shade…forget about it!

We figured out next time we will plan to arrive about 2pm or 3 and stay until they close which is 8pm. (enough time for a waterpark I think) The lines were long some as long as an hour! It seemed that late afternoon people had enough and were getting up and leaving.

One of the most convenient features of this park presents itself as you walk in.  A huge billboard that discloses how many chairs are available in each section of the water park.

Transportation around the park? oh yeah! The lazy river…Choose a single, double or kiddie tube and use it like the railroad at Disney (stop at your desired location, rather than walk). The kids loved doing this! There can be a lot of people, but it seemed to be wider than most water parks. Absolutely LOVED the lazy river.

Now lets chat about the wave pool!

WHAT A WAVE POOL!!! I HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WAS IN FOR! This is the ultimate rush!!! Parents, just be careful with the little ones that don’t swim, This wave pool is extreme!!! The 2.75 million (yes – million) gallon wave pool in this place is crazy.  From anywhere in the park you will hear what sounds like a huge crash of thunder, followed by the excited screams of a couple hundred people.  Waves up to 6 ft high are then belted out onto everyone brave enough to weather the storm.

Check out my video I apologize for the end I got a little scared 😀

Wave Pool

The food here is nice but a bit pricey.  They do allow coolers so that is a positive as well.

One tip, purchase the cup that you can refill anytime. Totally worth it!

And what was Disney thinking in regards to lining their water areas. I understand they need it to be nonslip but after all the scraps and cuts you would think they would sand it down a bit so it’s not so sharp. It tears up your feet if you’re not wearing water shoes.

Of Course, I have to mention the themeing…..as always AMAZING!!!!

The rides include….

Crush N Gusher –  1,2 or 3 person tubes down a long slide.  Drops, speeds and turns. Since there are 3 courses to choose from it doesn’t back up as much as other rides. I’d say go on this one 1st when you get in the park.

Gang Plank Falls – a family coaster, but very short. For the amount of time we waited to get in this one, it was over in about 10 seconds. Not worth the wait.

Shark Reef – neat offering you can swim with fish and baby sharks for $20. We did not get a chance to do this but plan on it next time.

Overall we had a great time and will be back (Of Course!)

Posted in EVERYTHING DISNEY with tags on July 7, 2012 by disneychronicles

Hello! Happy to have you here!
Summer is in full swing! and nationwide it’s been a HOT one!
Hope your staying cool & safe!
I recently came across an interesting figure I wanted to share with you…
In a U.S. population of 304 million, only 73 million Americans have cruised before!
So we are talking about 24%! WOW!
(something must be done about this!!!)
Now this IS my favorite way to travel so you can imagine this is truly a SHOCKER!
These results are provided by CLIA which is the Cruise Lines International Association (very dependable).
For the cruise rookies out there take my word for it you are missing out!
I thought a good way to spread the fun of cruising is to explain
how easy it is to get a free one if you bring a group of friends!
I also included a great article “Ten Myth’s of Cruising”.
After all that if your still not convinced you know where to find me!
I’ll convince you! I promise!
Enjoy!

Fourth of July at the Happiest Place on Earth!

Posted in EVERYTHING DISNEY with tags , on June 29, 2012 by disneychronicles

Where will you be celebrating?

A variety of special events for Fourth of July are scheduled at Walt Disney World® Resort – such as patriotic parades, live music and spectacular fireworks shows. A street party with live entertainment and fireworks is also planned for Pleasure Island in Downtown Disney. All of the Fourth of July celebrations are included in the regular admission price.

Magic Kingdom will present “Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky.” This patriotic fireworks spectacular, paying homage to the hopes and dreams of America’s forefathers, will light the skies at 9 p.m. July 4 – and for guests who would like to begin the Independence Day celebration early, the show also will be presented July 3 at 9 p.m.

At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, traditional Fourth of July fireworks take on a different spin when Mulch, Sweat, and Shears perform for the all-new “Rockin’ 4th of July Celebration!” These resident landscapers – with serious rock and roll ambitions – take Disney guests on a musical road trip across America that will highlight each region’s contribution to rock and roll. Fireworks, lighting and special effects – backed by the driving live rock and roll of Mulch, Sweat, and Shears – combine to bring a new twist to celebrating Independence Day. Showtime July 4 is 9:45 p.m. Before or after the show, Disney’s Hollywood Studios guests can thrill to Disney’s Fantasmic!, performing July 4 at 9 and 10:30 p.m.

At Epcot, sky-watchers can check out “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” bursting high above World Showcase Lagoon. IllumiNations is a 14-minute spectacular during which pyrotechnics, lasers, water and music are all used to tell a story about the past, present and future of our planet. On the Fourth of July, the show will be enhanced with “The Heartbeat of Freedom,” an overture of traditional Americana themes displayed in a pyrotechnic and laser light event. The show is at 10 p.m.

Also at Epcot, you can hear a “Voices of Liberty 4th of July Concert” and participate in meet-and-greets with Benjamin Franklin, Betsy Ross and Disney characters wearing their patriotic dress at American Adventure.

No Independence Day celebrations are planned for Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park.

All of the parks will be extremely busy.  So plan wisely!

In the past the parks have reached capacity and guests were turned away- even those with dining reservations inside the closed park.  You need to decide which park you want to visit for the 4th, arrive early and plan to stay the whole day.  Don’t park hop and don’t return to your resort for a break, a swim or a nap.  If you do, you may not get back in the park!  If you are a Disney Resort guest, you are guaranteed entry into a park, but it may not be your park of choice!  Again, arrive early and stay all day.

Have a Safe and Happy Holiday!

Theme park hours on July 4 (subject to change without notice):
Magic Kingdom, 9 a.m. through 11 p.m.
Epcot, 9 a.m. through 10 p.m.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios, 9 a.m.through 10 p.m.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom, 8 a.m. through 7 p.m.
