The Happiest place on Earth will get even happier on June 15, 2012!

Yes! It is the Grand Opening of Cars Land at Disney California Adventure.  The new additions will complete the five year expansion of Disneyland Resort. Cars Land will expand the park by 12 acres.

You will feel like you stepped into Radiator Springs, there will be cars themed shopping and dining which includes Flo’s V8 cafe, Ramone’s House of Body Art and Radiator Springs Curios.

One of the largest and most elaborate attractions ever created for a Disney park is Radiator Springs Racers.  It is a twisting, turning high speed adventure through Ornament Valley and the town of Radiator Springs.  Luigi’s flying tires invites you to glide on air aboard special tires.  At Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree you will whip around behind a baby tractor and enjoy tunes from a giant jukebox built from Mater’s most prized possessions.

Sounds “Great” to me and I know my boys would love it!!

Journey Into Imagination

What Figment? who? a dragon? in a sweater? whaaaaat????

How long has it been since you went on Journey into Imagination??

In case you don’t know….

Figment, a small purple dragon, occasionally seen sporting a yellow sweater, is the mascot of the Imagination! pavilion at the Epcot theme park at Walt Disney World Resort. He is extensively seen in Epcot merchandise.

The actual ride opened March 5, 1983 but was revamped quite a few times.  The biggest changes were made in 1999 but they brought on numerous complaints so to keep a long story short once again to keep us Disney folk HAPPY , a modest 2002 refurbishment modified the 1999 version to add the dragon as a playful foil for Dr. Channing throughout the Imagination Institute tour. The new version pointedly was branded Journey Into Imagination with Figment.

….and so now that is what it is…..

(SPOILER ALERT) this is part of the ride if you want to be surprised….DON’T WATCH!

and then of course there’s the SHOPPING!!!!

Figment Trivia…

Did you know that Figment has briefly appeared in several educational short films in the early ’80s two of which featured Peter Pan and Alice from Alice in Wonderland.

Living with the Land

Living with the Land is a 14-minute boat ride in Future World at Epcot theme park that explores agricultural advances in the rain forest, Africa and beyond. I went on with my two boys and was rather surprised they enjoyed it as much as they did.  It does have a very educational feel and is very interesting to guests of all ages.  You will see the Innovative techniques used such as hydroponics and Aeroponics.

15 to 20 Percent of the food grown in the greenhouses are used in the restaurant right above the attraction, “The Garden Grill”.

Overall, Great for a plant lover but even if your not worth to do at least once. You never know it might inspire you!

Haunted Mansion

Does it feel like Fall yet?……well not in Florida…but it’s still easy to get in the “spirit”! after all Halloween is just around the corner!

“Welcome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion. I am your host – your ‘ghost host.’

“Your cadaverous pallor betrays an aura of foreboding, almost as though you sense a disquieting metamorphosis. Is this haunted room actually stretching? Or is it your imagination, hmm…?”

This is a ride-through tour of a haunted house in vehicles called Doom Buggies. The attraction showcases a number of age-old tricks, advanced special effects, and spectral Audio-Animatronics. It is more fun and silly than scary, the ride is dark, loud…and haunted! ………but very young children may find it scary.
