Meet Merida at the Magic Kingdom

So you’ve seen Brave..and your little one just has to meet her!

Well now you can!

All the way from Scotland, Disney’s newest princess Merida began meeting and greeting with guests at the Magic Kingdom alongside three mischievous bear cub buddies, all from the upcoming Pixar film “Brave”.

The new Walt Disney World play-and-greet experience is located just to the right of Cinderella Castle inside Fairytale Garden, not only featuring a photo opportunity with Merida and the baby bears but also a chance to learn a few archery skills and color.

My boys weren’t all that interested (imagine that) so we didn’t go in but I did get to snap a few shots walking by.

(Would love to know what that wig cost) WOW! that’s some hair!

So you want to be a Sorcerer’s Apprentice at Magic Kingdom?

“Perhaps there is no art more fascinating than magic. Magic is an all-important part of our business,” Walt Disney once told his television audience. “After all, where would fantasy be without magic?”

……..and really where is there more magic then at the Magic Kingdom 🙂

Have you tried the game yet? In my opinion it is well done.

My boys love it! They have done it a few times and it is always a different game!

In the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom experience, Merlin will recruit you to become an “apprentice sorcerer” to help with maps and clues that show where and how to defeat an army of Disney villains.

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, is a role-playing game, where you will become one of Merlin’s apprentice sorcerers. Your quest is to stop the more than 20 Disney villains from stealing one of the four shattered pieces of Merlin’s crystal ball.  When you sign up you will receive 5 spell cards, a map and your magic key.  You will start by using the  special map to search for the magic symbols that lead you to the  villains’ hiding places in Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, and Main Street, U.S.A. Once there,  you will use your magic key to reveal a villain’s hideout and then use the spell cards to stop them in their tracks.

You never know where you will end up!

The cards are divided into nine different spell classes, such as Hero cards, Princess cards, or Warrior cards.  In addition, all cards are marked with one of three symbols – a star, which indicates a rare card; a moon, which signifies an uncommon card; and a planet, which indicates a common card.  Since there are so many different cards, each time you play you will be able to have a different experience.

It is lots of fun! and a great way to get the kids around the parks without any whining!

Indiana Jones….Epic Stunt Spectacular!

Posted in DISNEY ATTRACTIONS, DISNEY'S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS with tags , on July 23, 2012 by disneychronicles

The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular is a stunt show that will both entertain and educate. Set on the set of the opening scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark, the stage production staff shooting the “movie”, prep the audience about what it takes to do action films. A few reenacted scenes later, and you’ve mastered the movie. Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular utilizes both action sequences and educating narrations, as you are guided through the steps of making an action movie, like Indiana Jones.

Do get there early or you may be stuck in the “standing room only” area. (yeah, that was us)

So honestly not really being a Indiana Jones fan I still found this interesting.  Although for me it was one of those shows you see once and don’t need to repeat very soon 🙂

Obviously not all will share this opinion.  The show is consistently upgrading it’s electronics and computer elements to keep it up to date. It is currently the longest running show at a Disney World park. The stunts are real but obviously it doesn’t always end well.

“In 2009 A Walt Disney World cast member is dead after an accident Monday evening at Hollywood Studios.

Stunt performer Anislav Varbanov, 30, was fatally injured during a rehearsal for the ” Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular.” He was doing a tumbling roll after 7 p.m. when he was hurt. He was pronounced dead at 8.43pm.”

I also have read this has not been the only incident but the most recent. Kinda puts a damper on the whole thing!

Check out the video….(no spoiler alert just a bit of the show)

HONEYMOON ISLAND….Yes, you can bring the kids!

Posted in FLORIDA BEACHES with tags on July 20, 2012 by disneychronicles

and we are onto another Beach….. This one is a little bit more quiet then the previous few..

HAVE YOU BEEN?

The pioneers called it Hog Island, but it became Honeymoon Isle in 1939 when a New York developer built 50 palm – thatched bungalows for honeymooners. (note….they are no longer there) Today, visitors can drive across Dunedin Causeway to enjoy the sun – drenched Gulf beaches, mangrove swamps, and tidal flats. Nature lovers will find osprey nests, a wide variety of shorebirds, and one of the few remaining virgin slash pine forests in South Florida. The park boasts several nature trails and bird observation areas. Visitors can swim, fish, and snorkel in the warm waters of the Gulf or picnic while they enjoy the beautiful scenery. Shelling is particularly good here, as the Gulf currents deposit an incredible variety of seashells on the shore. Showers are available and the park´s concession has a gift shop and snack bar.

Located at the extreme west end of State Road 586.

The cost to enter the park is $8, which is well worth it. There is ample parking, and lots of room on the beach. The water is warm and clear, and perfect for relaxing.

The northern end of the beach is a little rocky, which is also where the best shells are found. Just watch where you step, and you’ll be fine. Other than a small section, the rest of the beach is rock-free.

There is a small cafe at the beach. The prices are high for burgers and fries, and the service is slow, but you’re at the beach!
