Stayed at the Pop this past week and couldn’t help to take a look at how the Animation Resort was coming along! It will be HUGE! The 1st phase is scheduled to open summer of 2012! The typical standard room with 2 double beds will be 277 sq feet. The family suite will be 565 sq feet. Each building will have character themed rooms. The 4 themes will be Finding Nemo, Cars, The Little Mermaid and The Lion King. There will be 3 pools, children’s water play area, arcade and recreation activities including Disney Movies! The hardest part will be to decide which rooms to stay in!

Disney’s All Star Sports

For young children this is heaven! Especially if they love sports! Everything is oversized and colorful. This resort opened in 1994 with a room renovation completed in 2008, the 1,920-room sports-themed, Animal Kingdom-area resort is convenient to the ESPN World Wide of Sports Complex and Blizzard Beach Water Park, and is the first stop in the resort bus cue among Disney’s three All-Star hotel properties. The buildings are designed around football, baseball, basketball, tennis, and surfing themes. The turquoise surf buildings have huge waves along the roofs with colorful surfboards mounted on exterior walls and pink fish swimming along balcony railings.
The accommodations are basic but I think much better then staying off property. A lively arcade and two themed pools will keep the kids cool and entertained after a long day at the theme parks, and when it’s time to blow off some steam, a playground and a variety of sports “fields” provide space for active fun and games.
A sports-themed food court serves up fan favorites like hot dogs, chicken wings and ice cream, and budget-friendly rates are accompanied by all of the advantages of a Walt Disney World stay, including early-entry and late-stay theme park privileges, onsite airline check-in and complimentary airport and theme park transportation. If your looking for a quiet stay this may not be the place for you.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Riverside

Featuring tranquil waterways and a 19th-century Louisiana atmosphere, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Riverside draws inspiration from the writings of Mark Twain and is approximately 22 miles from Orlando International Airport. Transportation to the theme parks is available by ferry and bus.Guests may swim in the water hole-themed Ol’ Man Island swimming pool and five additional heated pools. Pontoon boats, canopy boats, and mini-motorboats are available for use in the resort’s waterways. Horse-drawn excursions and bicycle rentals may be arranged at this resort. Fishing is also available at a fishing pond which my boys enjoyed! Additional amenities include a jogging trail, video arcade, playground, laundry services and facilities, babysitting services, and parking. Dining options include Cajun cuisine at Boatwright’s Dining Hall, and the Riverside Mill Food Court.Guest rooms feature in-room pizza delivery, irons and ironing boards, hairdryers, coffeemakers, refrigerators, safes, cable TV, and high-speed Internet access.

Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter

I was truly surprised and really enjoyed my stay at the Port Orleans French Quarter. I was a little hesitant booking this property. It just did not look that great and I did not think it had the “Disney” feel. WOW was I ever wrong! As Disney always does they did excel at this property. I do love New Orleans and this was a great reminder of what it s like! The customer service was wonderful right down to the southern accents some of the cast members had! Boat transportation was a very short walk (less than a minute) to the dock. The boat took us to Downtown Disney and Port Orleans Riverside resort. The pool has a meandering serpent slide that the kids LOVED! This is one resort that I would return too!

As you pass by the ornate street signs, antique gas lampposts and fountains, you may just feel like you’ve been transported to The Big Easy.
