ROSE & CROWN PUB

The Rose & Crown is located in the United Kingdom of World Showcase at Epcot.  There is a stand outside selling beer and the front façade of the building puts you right on the UK streets.  One of the biggest draws for this restaurant is the patio seating.

This is a traditional English Pub! Serving…fish-and-chips, shepherd’s pie (ground lamb with onions, carrots, and peas, topped with mashed potatoes and cheddar cheese), and the ever-popular bangers and mash (sausage over mashed potatoes) ect.  I started with the Potato-and-leek soup and was disappointed!  I like soup to have some consistency but this tasted like it was thrown in a blender & I could drink it! UGHHH! For my meal I had the Bangers and Mash and it was FANTASTIC! I would return for this meal! It also tasted very authentic!

This would be a great spot to have a late dinner, linger, and watch Illuminations.  If you want a laid back atmosphere to have a tall beer  this is the place!

Kona Cafe

at the Poly…

Stopped in to have a quick lunch. I have always been a fan of Ohana’s which is also at the Polynesian so I wanted to try the Kona Cafe.  I dropped in without a reservation and was seated quickly.  I ordered the  Polynesian Plate Lunch – $14.99
The Pan-fried Chicken with Coconut and Mango Sauces with Sticky Rice and Macaroni Salad.  The presentation was a little blah but the meal was FANTASTIC!

The waitress was great. She was attentive without being annoying. The usual kids-fare choices were available and a little Kona coffee for dessert made for a great end to the meal.  The only place it falls short is the atmosphere.  It is on the second floor and open to the lobby.  If they closed it off it would have a more intimate feel.  Regardless that small detail I will be back!

Epcot International Food and Wine Festival

September 30 to November 13, 2011

Tasty treats, refreshing beverages, celebrity chef demonstrations and rock star performances, there’s something to satisfy every taste and interest.

I absolutely love being able to sample food from around the world at the booths during Food & Wine. They have smaller taste size portions at each booth usually from $3-7 which allows you to taste a bunch of different fun foods! Some are amazing and the ones that aren’t …well it’s a small portion! It’s fun and it’s not a huge strain on your pocketbook to indulge in just one. Problem is, you really do want to try every place around the world so it usually adds up to around $100 (If your not drinking).

In my opinion it’s a good idea to get the festival themed mini gift card! Fits right on your wrist & you don’t have to worry about pulling out your wallet.
