Black Friday? oh yes! at Coquina Beach!

Posted in FLORIDA BEACHES with tags , , on November 23, 2012 by disneychronicles

So I completely by passed the Black Friday festivities this year.

(SHOCKER! I KNOW)

But it was well spent quality family time at the BEACH!

After the huge Thanksgiving meal it only made sense to walk a little bit of it off. So we packed up and headed out to Coquina Beach.

It is the longest stretch of beach on Anna Maria, located on the south end.  The best part is the free parking and plenty of it.  You will also see lifeguards, concessions, picnic tables, a playground, restrooms and showers!

When you first turn off Cortez you will see the usual beach front restaurants, shell and souvenir shops, a large ice cream parlor and TONS of tourists!

Keep going…..and then go a little bit more!

You will eventually see a rather quiet piece of white sand beach!

With tall pine trees lining the beach, it is one of the more picturesque of our beaches.  There’s a walking/running path with signs every few hundred yards talking about the wildlife.

Gives you the feel of “Old Florida”.

Even if only for the RELAXATION factor….It is worth checking out! So go!

Storybook Circus Peanuts…oh come on people!

Posted in DISNEY'S MAGIC KINGDOM with tags , on November 18, 2012 by disneychronicles

ok so I’m putting the warning out there…..I think this will turn more into a rant and not an informative post! but come on where does it stop?!

Many of you already know and have seen that there are peanuts in the cement in the Storybook Circus part of Fantasyland. (Yes, they are also made out of concrete) and there are also hoof and paw prints although they don’t seem to be getting all the attention.

I think it is well done Circus, Elephants, Peanuts……makes sense to me!

Now as we all know with Disney it is all in the details! and they do a FANTASTIC job!

but of course someone out there always has something to say….

Before I continue on here I just want to say that I am in NO WAY diminishing the seriousness of peanut allergies but I think sometimes a little common sense goes a long way!

I am subscribed to other Disney blogs and enjoy reading their opinions. It amazes me the amount of people who have a problem with these “concrete” peanuts! To the point that a woman actually threatened to sue Disney and got hysterical because her child is allergic to peanuts and she actually  believed they put real ones in the pavement which of course she demanded they be removed. (I’m speechless)!!!!

So just to put it out there….

Disney would not risk guests with peanut allergies coming into contact with real peanut shells. They’re not real peanut shells. And they’re not all over the place, only in a few areas.

It’s nothing to be concerned about. I hope people do realize how careful Disney is with any allergies! If you have ever made a dining reservation they specifically ask if you have any allergies. (and not to mention they have a special services phone number that you can actually speak to someone regarding your allergy!

I also have an allergy and find it amazing that whenever I dine on property a chef will come out of the kitchen to discuss it with me!

Once again with Disney it is all in the details!

So get out there and have fun! and stop worrying about concrete peanuts! 😀

Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem….Universal Studios

Posted in UNIVERSAL STUDIOS with tags , , on November 9, 2012 by disneychronicles

Have you been to Universal lately?

We have been wanting to check out Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem since we loved the movie!

It is very cute!

Minion Mayhem starts in the living room, where you pick up 3-D minion glasses and enter the Minionization Prep Room. Gru scans new recruits for “human germs,” cracks a few jokes and shoots a fart gun, which, of course, the kids find hilarious.

From there, you board Minion Transformation Pods — eight-seat ride simulators in a big auditorium. For the next four minutes, you whiz through a minion obstacle course, fall into an antigravity recycling room and dodge a monster crusher, all the while Agnes tries to give daddy Gru a gift.

It is bumpy and 3D so if you easily get motion sickness beware!

It’s rare to say a theme park ride lasts long enough, but this one actually does.

While it helps to be familiar with the movie, it isn’t necessary. Newbies can watch a 15-minute video introduction to the plot as they wait in line.

The ride incorporates so many details from the movie — right down to the banana trees out front — that visitors can go multiple times and still see something new. That will be a big plus when minions return to the big screen next July for the release of Despicable Me 2.

Children must be 48 inches tall to ride alone or 40 inches if accompanied by an adult. Pregnant women and those prone to dizziness are prohibited. There is the option for stationary seating which makes this perfect for everyone!
