Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo

Posted in FLORIDA ADVENTURES with tags on August 17, 2011 by disneychronicles

This is one of my favorite zoo’s. It is large but comfortable. It doesn’t feel like you have to walk very far to get to the next exhibit. It has over 1700 animals in 56 acres of lush animal habitats.

Everything is as clean as can be and animals have very nice enclosures. There is enough to do here for the whole day so plan on staying to see everything. There were some rides also. A Merry Go Round, a small roller coaster and a drenching log ride!  They also have a small splash pool for the kids. The best part for my kids was the giraffe feeding. That was a great photo op! Parking was also close and convenient.  If you have an extra day at Disney and need a break from the parks this is a great alternative!

Check out my pics….

It’s Tough to be a Bug!

Posted in DISNEY ATTRACTIONS, DISNEY'S ANIMAL KINGDOM on August 16, 2011 by disneychronicles

It’s Tough to Be a Bug! is a 9-minute long 3D film.  The attraction opened in Disney’s Animal Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort on April 22, 1998, a full seven months before the actual feature debuted in theaters.  While meandering through the Tree of Life’ s passageways, look closely at the bark. You’ll find animals intricately carved into it. The Tree of Life is decorated with over 300 of these detailed animal carvings.

This is a funny show! You get to see, hear, smell and feel all the things that bugs go through every day. The best part is that most of it is unexpected!

Your host, a mild-mannered ant named Flick (from Disney/Pixar film, “It’s a Bug’s Life”) starts the show, and he’ll introduce other bugs to you as the show continues.

It was my first time seeing it and we enjoyed it! and you can’t beat the air conditioning! 🙂
